THERMAL IMAGING

We are now available to carry out thermal imaging survays with our new state of the art camera.  Thermal imaging photos can be taken of any electrical or mechanical equipment.

These photos will show if any components such as electrical connections or equipment are overheating.  If these hot components were to fail they could result in major plant shutdowns or even electrical fire.

The pictures show an example of an overheating 3 pole MCB, identified in a recent survay.

After undertaking the survay a report is produced showing infra-red and standard images of the problem areas.

Please contact Phil on 07836 755980 if you would like any other information about this service.

POWERED ACCESS

With safety and service in mind we decided to invest in a boom lift or more commonly know as a cherry picker.  This is to minimise the use of ladders over 2 meters and make access for our engineers easier.

The Niftylift 120T is battery powered, has a maximum lift of 12 meters and a 6 meter outreach.  The machine is manufactured in the UK, fully certified and can be towed behind our vans.

Our engineers are competent and fully certified to use scissor and boom powered access lifts.

PURCHASE CARD PAYMENTS

Don’t forget that we can accept purchase card payments.

'DE-NEUTRALISING' BLACK

Under the new legislation colours for fixed wiring introduced by Amendment 2 to BS7671, black is now used to identify a phase conductor, not a neutral conductor, in new installation work.

for all single-phase applications, it is required use cables marked for such use, that is with brown, blue and green-yellow cores.

Breaking the black/neutral association

Where three-core cables, marked in the new three-phase colours are used for single-phase applications, it is proposed that, as a convention, the black core is used for the protective conductor, the brown for the phase conductor and the grey for neutral. This convention is intended to break the association between black and neutral. It would mean that the black core would normally be over-marked green-yellow, and the grey core over-marked blue or N. The brown core would not need additional marking.

Street Lighting

The Institute of Lighting Engineers (ILE) intends to introduce such a convention where SWA cables with brown, black and grey cores are used for street lighting applications, the black core being used as a circuit protective conductor in parallel with the amouring to maximize circuit lengths.

Fire Alarm Systems

Applying the same convention to a flat three-core fire alarm interlink cable, the grey would be over-marked as the neutral and the black interlink over-marked brown.
